Many advantages come along with installing laminate flooring in your home. It’s cheaper than hardwood flooring even though it often looks just like it. Moreover, it’s also easy to install and will last you for a long time if you maintain it. However, you will need to put in a little bit of work if you want to keep your laminate flooring in good shape for years to come. Check out a few tips for doing it below.
Vacuum your laminate floors regularly.
Regardless of where your laminate floors are located in your home, they’re going to attract dirt, dust, crumbs, and more. The good thing is that it’s very easy to clean those things up with a vacuum. Just make sure you use a vacuum that doesn’t rely on a rotating brush since it could end up scratching your floors if you aren’t careful. You can also sweep your floors if you feel more comfortable doing that.
Wipe your laminate floors with a damp mop every month or so.
While vacuuming or sweeping will keep your floors dirt free for the most part, it’s a good idea to get into the habit of wiping your floors down with a damp mop about once every one to two months. You do want to be sure that the mop is damp and not wet since a wet mop could send too much water pouring out onto your flooring. You also want to use a special cleaner made for laminate floors. But you can usually wipe up any built-up dirt in a matter of just seconds with a mop.
Avoid trying to wax laminate floors.
Unfortunately, you can’t polish or wax laminate flooring, so it’s not even worth trying. You will likely just end up damaging your floors if you do it. Instead, stick to the maintenance steps above and your floors should shine for a long time.
